You are a beautiful chicken You were born in a hatchery You never saw your parents You were thrown into a big factory Cramped up together with other orphans You felt all lost Maybe you got some comfort from your fellow chickens, brothers, and sisters Maybe you felt like an outcast your whole life You had to dwell on your feces and urine The acids eroded away many of your feathers Leaving your skin naked and bare Your feathers could have been all shiny and white As you would like A gentle being who desires cleanliness But you were relegated to a life in your own shit You might have wondered why people are doing this to you So I came here today to witness your suffering At the end of your life I saw your tired eyes I tried to give the only selfless love from humans you had ever experienced Your sad eyes and the smells I can tell you must have endured your whole life are still with me And I pray that next time people see those chicken wings in the store That they will understand that these are the wings of a gentle individual These chicken legs are your legs And the chicken breast is yours as well And all these were violently ripped away from you after a horrendous death at a slaughterhouse You did not consent to this You did not give your life willingly And you did not ask to be born as and used as a slave your whole life So I pray that people will leave your dead body in the store And that their hearts will feel for you And that they will act from their heart And decide to become vegan And that the hell hole that you were born into will close down And will be converted into a greenhouse of vegan kindness and love And that these words in your memory, along with the words from all other vegans, will plant seeds that will give birth to a compassionate and kind world Where we live in harmony and peace with you and all other animals
Thank you!
